Well, that didn’t take long. A day after writing that we hadn’t really seen Japanese beetles here yet, we’ve started finding them today. Several have been eating okra plants, and I found one on our pole beans. Even one beetle does serious damage; I found the pole bean offender because from 10′ away I saw the patch of bean leaves covered in large holes and investigated. If they start arriving in numbers, we give up. I’d at least like to get SOME harvest off our otherwise very healthy tomato/bean/edamame/pepper plantings….
